Sherrila shows off a wedge of ice collected from the bay. This ice is very dense - not like the cubes you get from your freezer. The intense pressure of the surrounding glacier has forced the crystals within each iceberg to lock together much more efficiently. The ice is more transparent, very slightly heavier, and takes much longer to melt. In fact, it's perfect for stealing and hiding in your cooler. And that's what we did.
