The Skunk Cabbage is fertilized primarily by flies, attracted by the large flower pod it opens in the spring. The flower pod smells a lot like rotting meat. Later in the year the broad leaves of the plant collapse, and provide a hearty meal to various bugs. Unfortunately, every part of the Skunk Cabbage is poisonous to mammals.
