Andy inspects the work of his apprentice, who has just re-routed the exhaust system of a car by manufacturing a custom-shaped pipeline and affixing it to a new catalytic converter. The joists in the foreground are being used to precisely align the piping so that it hangs just below the underside of the car. Later on the mechanic will make the configuration permanent by welding it to metal strips and connectors.
