This swampy region is teeming with dragonflies. There are dozens of them hunting in the grass at any given time, even though each one spends only a couple of weeks in this final winged stage. They do not emerge from cocoons, but actually climb right out of the water when the time is right and split their larval casing, and crawl slowly out of it.
