These trees go up, way up. Beyond a certain age, redwood trees almost never have branches close to the ground, but after about fifteen feet of straight trunk, the branches often become regular and thick. If you put a ladder against certain redwood trees, you could climb the rest of the way up with relative ease. You'd still be much safer using a climbing belt as well, of course.
